Every Saturday the calm town of Campos become a colorful refuge for those looking for secret treasures.
Campos’s weekly market is a magic experience for those who love healthy and tasty local food. At a glance, the market doesn’t seem to be much more than few producers in the square and in the main street, but the true is that is surprising how large it is.
In the market square, there are not many stops, but enought, to find excellent food producers of fresh vegetables far away from those in city supermarkets. As well, it’s a perfect place to discover local coal meats: our “jamon” and do not miss about “sobrassa from Mallorca”. Artisanal cheeses, red wine or olive oil are the perfect complement for such a colorful frame. Leaving the main square, the flavours and scent let space to the view to indulge of creativity and finesse. A flea market starts as a perfect mix of bric-a-brac, catchpenny and trinkets.
Between simple beach clothes or leather goods, a special touch is given to this aparently without much more interest market: linen robes, antiques or artisian baskets giving really delicate and interesting touch to browse.
On all this scene, the perfect complement are the local shops in the main street, that on market day extend to the street.
From vintage dresses, ratan carpets, to antique wrist watches, silver cutlery, delicated linnen, lamps, or even Luis Vuitton suitcases. Hidden treasures to be discovered in these cute shops.
The must: always there are charming places to stop for a drink in one of the hidden yards where to find a shadow (and depending of the season, the facinating smell of the orange tree) or just taste a sweet in “Pomar” bakery, wellknown all arround Mallorca for its “enseimades”.
